Experiences

On the 22nd of November we went to Vanderlande and we gained many insights of this international company. First of all Emma and Maaike gave a presentation which provided us with general information about the company for example about their history and type of work they do.

Afterwards we attended a tour through the building given by Ton, an employee. At first he showed us the main building, where the majority of employees works. It was a very modern and newly renovated building with eight floors and among other things it contains a brand new gym. Moreover the building has a lot of windows, which has a lot of benefits. As a result the employees can enjoy a great view and the collaborative work is strengthened by the open nature of the building. We really liked the building and think it is a great workplace for the employees.

Then we went to the innovation centre, where we saw the different types of conveyor belts. Ton explained a lot and we found the technique really interesting. We were even given the chance to try out the so called STACK@EASE ourselves. It is a highly flexible loading aid that helps workers to load containers productively and minimises their physical workload.

Later we sat in the cafeteria because we wanted to conduct interviews with employees in small groups. We thought it was a great opportunity to speak to each one of them separately, because we were able to find out a lot about their personal careers and experiences.
All in all, we would say that we learned a lot and that we gained a positive insight of Vanderlande. Furthermore. we were especially surprised about the work-friendly atmosphere and environment within the company.
